Dr. Venkata Krishna Kumar Upadhyayula obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering from New Mexico State University, USA and MS in Environmental Engineering from National University of Singapore. He is employed by Umea University as a faculty at Chemistry Department. Krishna’s current research portfolio includes projects related to: (a) waste utilization for production of biofuel and bioenergy; (b) technolo-economic feasibility studies and environmental performance assessments of emerging bio and nanomaterial applications to enhance sustainable performance of transportation industry; and (c) development of a framework for enabling innovations with high sustainability potential to surpass the technology death valley

Dr. Krishna has a wealth of experience in conducting life cycle assessments of advanced product (e.g. carbon fiber composites, nanocomposites etc.) and process solutions (e.g. additive manufacturing) offered to automotive, mass transportation, consumer electronics, and petrochemical industries. He has published several journal articles based on the work performed in this area. Dr. Krishna is also well versed in conducting life cycle costing and social life cycle assessment studies.
