Biography

Giuseppe Buja received the “laurea” degree with honors in power electronics engineering from the University of Padova. in 1970. Since 1986 he is a Full Professor at the University of Padova, Italy, heading a laboratory on “Electric Systems for Automation and Automotive”. He has held the courses of “Electric systems for Automation”, Electric Road Vehicles” and “Apparatuses for the electric conversion of renewable sources”. He has carried out research in the field of power and industrial electronics (static converters, electric drives, industrial control and communication). Since some time on he is involved in the design of equipment for electric vehicles (especially, wired and wireless chargers) and for the grid connection of energy renewable sources. His activity is substantiated by more than 250 papers published in international refereed journals and conference proceedings. He was elevated to the grade of IEEE Fellow “for contributions to power electronics” and was the recipient of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award “in recognition of his outstanding technical contributions to the field of industrial electronics”, and the 2016 Best Paper Award for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.
Prof. Buja is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, a member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering, a senior member of the Administrative Committee of IES and a member of a number of international scientific associations and conference committees. He was the General Chairman of the 20th Annual Conference of Industrial Electronics (IECON), a co-founder of the IEEE International Symposium” Diagnostics of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives (SDEMPED)” and a co-starter of the International Conference “Power Electronics and Motion Control (PEMC)”.
